What is the musical starring role you dream of?

Improve your vocal and presentation skills for that next audition. In this fun workshop for boys and girls, you will focus on and develop the musical theatre performance skills you need to hone your talents and launch you onto the stage: vocals, interpretation, delivery, breathing, diction, movement and gestures will be covered. You'll gain experience and confidence as you sing and act in hit numbers from Broadway shows.

Parents join at 5:00PM for a demonstration of what was learned.
Students must have some experience with vocal performance.
  Beginners are welcome.
Enroll limit: 14.
Optional: Bring 2 photos and 2 resumes.
• Enroll early as we mail lyrics for one or two songs for review before the class date.

ABOUT THE COACH: JAN DOWNING is a professional acting and singing coach who has worked extensively in all areas of the entertainment industry both on the West Coast and in New York.  As a performer she has appeared Off-Broadway at the Westside Arts Theater, with The Light Opera of Manhattan, and on TV in the Soap, "All My Children."  Her experience behind the camera includes heading the TV commercial division at a San Francisco talent agency, also casting for theatre, films, and voice-overs, and scouting "real people" for national TV commercials.  She trained with New York voice coach Elizabeth Howell and at The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and is a proud graduate of the prestigious Los Angeles Civic Light Opera Musical Theater Workshop. She has taught musical theatre at The Girls' Middle School in Mountain View, CA, drama at Building Futures Now in East Palo Alto, and in 2005 she directed The LittlePrince at the award-winning A Company of Girls in Portland, ME.  Currently, she is teaching musical theatre classes in the South Bay in San Mateo and San Bruno and is launching Remarkable Girls, a unique all-girl theatre program for ages 9-18.
