COURSE DESCRIPTION, DAYS, AND TIMES:

TV Acting 1 and 2 is the perfect 8-week course for those interested in the study of TV and film acting. These courses are offered in fall and spring. They offer a comprehensive variety of experiences that emphasize personal development, TV acting and audition skills, acting in commercials, creating characters, improvisation, script analysis, scene study with partners, and performance skills on camera.

Fall term takes place from late September or early October to early December and parents attend the last class in January. Spring term is from late February or early March to early June.

TV ACTING 1

TV Commercials with improv & Photos - Age 4-18

Students perform two solo commercial scripts, learn to improvise, create characters w/accents, and participate in a photo shoot with a professional photographer. Improvisation is a basic acting element, which teaches the art of spontaneous creation in acting.  It enables students to produce performances without previous thought or preparation, improves auditions, and opens up one's imagination and natural creativity.

TV ACTING 2

Acting for TV Scenes with improv – AGE 4-18

Students perform dialogues in scenes and intermediate improvisation. Scene study is a primary skill  in which actors learn to share stage and develop relationships. A scene is an event or division in a play. The scene evolves by the involvement and relationship of the players. Scene study enhances ones ability to create relationships, take cues, learn timing, and build memorization skills.

PHOTOS *VIDEO VIEWING EVALUATIONS

TV Acting 1 includes a photo session, to develop comfort in taking direction from a professional photographer and to heighten self-image. At your option, photos may be purchased directly from the photographer: 8"x10": $35.00 • 5"x7": $25.00

TV ACTING 3

Monologue Study WITH IMPROV – Age 8-18

A monologue IS one of the actor's essential tools. Auditions for stage, TV, film, and talent agency interviews often require a monologue performance. A monologue is a speech; an important dramatic or comedic moment from a play, film, or other literary text, performed by one actor. Monologue study enhances an actor's ability to communicate ideas, feelings, images, and to tell a convincing story.

TV 3 curriculum will focus ON improving characterization, improvisation, concentration, articulation, emotional range, communicating images, text interpretation and memorization skills. Monologues will be 1-3 minutes. This course is designed for continuing students or new students with previous training or performing experience. For those who wish to return to TV 3, or have taken monologue study elsewhere, you will discover new techniques that will extend and deepen your knowledge of the subject. Informal interviews required for new students. Parents attend the last class for a review and consultations. Intermediate Skill Level. Enroll limit, 10

TV ACTING 4

Advanced scenes, improv, and cold script reading – Age 8-18

Want to work at a more advanced level on-camera every week and achieve your highest potential? At the first class the personal needs of each student will be analyzed and activities will be designed to address those needs. This course will focus on the expansion of one's expressive range, working with advanced scripts and scenes, creating characters, cold script reading, interpreting text, script analysis, and improvisation. The use of dramatic and comedic materials along with extensive practice on-camera will be emphasized. Enhance your skills as a solo performer and learn to share stage with actors of different ages in scenes. Improve listening, acting, reacting, and sustaining moments. This course is designed for continuing students after completion of TV 1 and TV 2. New students may submit a description of previous acting and training, and an informal interview will be arranged. Parents attend the last class for a review and consultations. Enroll limit, 10
